Wallonia's FAST vision aims to initiate a modal shift from private cars to more sustainable forms of transport by 2030. In order to monitor the implementation of this vision, SPW Mobility and Infrastructure has decided to install 200 Telraam boxes in the main urban centers of Wallonia.
Telraam is a traffic observation system installed in citizens' homes. It counts the flow of traffic passing in front of the house where it is located, breaking it down into pedestrians, bicycles, cars, and five categories of heavy goods vehicles, and identifies the average speed of vehicles. These devices are very easy to install on the first or second floor of homes, do not require a Wi-Fi connection, and only need a small amount of electricity. Better still, they display the figures in real time, which makes them fun for citizens to use.
