The content of the portal is managed by the FPS Policy and Support (BOSA) DG VD.
The portal itself runs on the general WCMS platform of the FPS BOSA, which provides the necessary resources for technical management, updates and possible migrations to new platforms.
The portal primarily targets citizens, companies and students, but certainly aims to reach other government departments as well.
The FPS BOSA answers the questions asked via the contact form, e-mail or online chat, and forwards them (if necessary) to the federal departments that can best answer them. Mails not intended for the federal government departments are forwarded to regional, provincial or local administrations according to the "no wrong door" principle.
Interested parties can ask for a short and confidential online meeting via MS Teams or Jitsi without any obligation.
FPS BOSA will also participate in community events, such as the OpenKnowledge Community's annual "OpenBelgium" conference, to engage the dialogue with re-users.
Students who need data for a paper, thesis.... can request these data sets via the contact form. In addition, students are also encouraged to submit (the links to) their final paper so that they can be included in the annual survey.
Specifically for the maintainer of other open data portals, an online meeting will be held at least twice a year to exchange information about initiatives, events ... The reports of these meetings will be public and published on this portal.
The FPS BOSA is responsible for harvesting metadata from other (federal, regional, local...) sites and portals. International metadata specifications, such as DCAT-AP, are used as much as possible. The datasets themselves are not copied, they remain on the site/portal of the government department publishing the data.
Federal departments and private organizations publishing open data can contact FPS BOSA via the contact form to set up the automatic exchange of. Regional and local administrations are requested to contact the open data portal of their Region.
