Ways and Means revenue by nature and by administration: achievements

FPS Finance

These tables show the revenue from the Ways and Means carried out on a cash basis (III = I-II), as shown in the general statement of the federal budget. These tables follow Belgian budgetary practices which deviate from the ESA-2010 classification (listed inter alia in the National Accounts and the ‘Detailed Tax Inventories’ (European Commission)). The ‘Ways and Means’ (III) are equal to the ‘total revenue’ received by the federal government (I), less the ‘revenues received by the Belgian federal government financing other powers’ (II). This amount is included in the Ways and Means budget. Parliament votes annually on the Ways and Means Budget in order to sanction the laws and regulations under which state revenues are collected. "Total revenues" are all tax and non-tax revenues collected by the Belgian federal government, including revenues which are then transferred to other public authorities or institutions, with the exception of local authorities. "Revenues collected by the Belgian federal government financing other powers" (II) consist of revenues ceded to the European Union, assigned revenues (mainly social security) and resources financing the Communities and Regions. All series of figures appear both on an annual basis (Y) and on a monthly basis (M).
