Number of CSI accidents involving at least one rail vehicle carrying dangerous goods. The name RID derives from international agreements regulating the carriage of this type of goods by rail: https://otif.org/en/?page_id=1105CSI or Common Safety Indicators which make it possible to monitor the general development of railway safety on an annual basis and facilitate the assessment of the achievement of the common safety objectives. They are based on European standards and indicators include significant accidents. A significant accident is an accident involving at least one railway vehicle in motion and having the following consequences: a deceased or seriously injured person, or serious damage (minimum €150,000) to rolling stock, tracks, other facilities or the environment, or significant traffic disruption (minimum 6 hours on the main track).
