Landscape areas of interest - Wallonia

This dataset locates the perimeters with remarkable landscape features within the Walloon territory. Landscape perimeters of interest (PIPs) are introduced in Article 40 of the CWATUPE, which specifies that "the Sector Plan may include landscape perimeters of interest, which have regulatory value and may be subject to special requirements, overprinted at the areas of use". According to Article 452/22 of the CWATUPE, "The perimeter of landscape interest" refers to the maintenance, formation or recomposition of the landscape. Permitted acts and works may be authorised provided that they form part of the landscape". Within these perimeters, the landscape is the predominant criterion for assessing the acceptability of a project. Finally, the SDER defines the landscape perimeter of interest "delimits a space within which the elements of the landscape are harmoniously arranged. The acts and works can be carried out there provided that they integrate perfectly with the built and unbuilt site and that they do not jeopardize the aesthetic value of the landscape. Initially, the data available at the MIP level were taken from the landscape perimeters of interest of the sector plan. These data have been revised by an inventory carried out by the non-profit organisation ADESA (Action et Défense de l’Environnement de la Vallée de la Senne et de ses Affluents) over the last few decades, using its own methodology, which consisted of analysing the quality of the landscape according to six aesthetic, non-mathematical criteria that can be used throughout the region. These were depth of field or length of view, variety, vertical dimension, presence of successive planes, harmony and rarity. Some PIPs have been removed to be replaced by a Remarkable Viewpoint (PVR). This is the case when it is the view that is of interest and not the landscape itself. This dataset was created in 2015
