To reduce the number of accidents, Infrabel aims to remove as many level crossings as possible and replace them with safer alternatives. This is the number of crossings removed since 2010. Passage to public level: A level crossing of a public road, in whole or in part, by one or more lanes laid outside the carriageway. Passage at private level: Crossing of a public road or a private road, in whole or in part, by one or more lanes laid outside the roadway, and created in the interest of individuals. More information on our institutional website Through the TEN-T (Trans-European Transport Network) programme and the Connecting Europe Facilities (CEF) programme, we have already received financial support from the European Union on several occasions for the removal of a number of level crossings.
