Summary A Future Tree is a tree in a street or square for which the necessary facilities have been made and corresponding investments have been made to make it grow big and old and to keep it as long as possible. This data layer is a derivative of (selection from) the layer Groeninventaris_Boom where the tree is a real tree of the future or a candidate tree of the future. Goal Translating the principle of the Future Trees into a geographical database with all Future Trees, candidate Future Trees and search zones on the public domain of the city of Antwerp. Keep this information up-to-date and make it accessible. Preserving future trees and improving or expanding the location according to the standards included in the definition of Future Trees, or according to the needs of the Future Tree. Future trees provide effective protection by labelling them. Further description, standards and practices in relation to planting and protecting Future Trees can be found in the Tree Plan (Future Trees Addendum). Base Map layer created from one-off large-scale measurements (mainly by mobile mapping) and further supplemented with terrestrial measurements. Update of the data is done by processing as-built plans. This data is kept daily and is therefore always up to date. Insertion and control of the attributes (tree species, pedigree) is done by the site managers of SB/GB.
