Summary: The Port Area defines the part of the territory of the city It corresponds to an area where mainly port activities take place. Purpose: The dataset forms the large-scale basis of the Geographic Information System of the city of Antwerp, as a support tool for the services and policies of the various services or business units. It also defines the area in which the port is responsible for handling the permits. Creation: Covering drawing based on the large-scale building and road information available to the city. initially the boundary of the former Large-Scale Basiskaart Antwerpen ( GBKA ) , being the municipal boundary at the level of the residential area to the Royersluis-Straatsburgdok-Noorderlaan south of the port area and to the Scheldt-Rhine Canal and the diversion canal east of the port area. following the DVO between city and port regarding the handling of the permits (spring 2006), a small part of large-scale information was transferred to the city and the boundary was adjusted on the basis of the demarcation provided by the GIS cell of the port . Further adjustments have been made by the City's GIS service in consultation with the Stadsheven Service.
