Summary:The archaeological advisory map is a management tool for better integration of heritage values into spatial policy. The map divides the territory of the city of Antwerp into different zones. For each zone, it is indicated which advisory procedure is desirable when drawing up spatial plans or processing urban planning applications that involve interventions in the soil. The demarcation of these zones is not only based on archaeological excavation data, but also takes into account historical, cartographic, iconographic and soil data. The map gives a general indication of the archaeological sensitivity of an area. Purpose: The map is available to the public in general but is primarily intended for spatial planners and the employees of the urban planning permit department. On the basis of the map, a clear procedure is indicated for archaeological advice. Creation: The layer was created on the basis of various sources (bottom maps, ferrary maps) and field knowledge.
