A dog walking zone is an area demarcated by the city: fenced and marked by a sign. Dog walking zones are the only places in the city where a dog is allowed to run loose on the public domain (not on a leash). These areas have a fence, gate, trash can and a sign sometimes also equipped with lighting and one or more benches. According to the possibilities, a dog walking area can be quite small or very large, with limited or just more facilities (more benches, more entrances, etc.). A dog walking zone is created by the city or district and maintained by the city staff. Locations of the dog walking zones can be used as a support tool for the service and in function of environmental analyses, such as e.g. accessibility. The inventory shall be carried out with GeoExplorer or on the basis of as-built plans .
