Flemish Bathing Water Locations, Condition 01/01/2022

List of all Flemish bathing waters with their location based on the European Bathing Water Directive. This Directive lays down provisions for the monitoring and classification of bathing water quality, the management of bathing water quality and the provision of information on bathing water quality to the public. The purpose of this Directive is to preserve, protect and improve the quality of the environment and to protect human health, in addition to Directive 2000/60/EC. This Directive shall apply to any surface water where the competent authority expects a large number of people to swim and where swimming is not permanently prohibited or for which there is no permanent negative advice (hereinafter referred to as ‘bathing water’). It shall not apply to swimming pools and health pools, enclosed waters treated or used for therapeutic purposes or artificially created enclosed waters separated from surface and groundwater.
