Statistical Sectors of Belgium, situation 01/01/2011

Helpdesk Digitaal Vlaanderen

The term 'statistical sector' was introduced in 1970 by the National Institute of Statistics (NIS). Previously, the municipality was the smallest administrative entity for which socio-economic data were available. The statistical sectors classify the territory of Belgium on the basis of morphological and/or socio-economic characteristics. The delimitation of statistical sectors usually coincides with elements recognisable in the field or administrative/administrative divisions. Many detailed inventories are generalized to information at the level of the statistical sector. This data product contains the vectorial data of the Statistical sectors on 01/01/2011, generalized version, of the General Directorate of Statistics - Statistics Belgium.
