Collection Wintercircus House of Alijn - Ghent

Ghent

The House of Alijn preserves a rich collection of circus heritage of Belgian circus families and artists from the 20th century. Highlights from the collection are the dozens of original lithographs that circus artists and circuses had produced. Posters used to portray not only circuses, but also circus artists and their specific act. The photo archive contains thousands of photos, showing circus life in its most diverse aspects, in front of and behind the scenes. The hundreds of circus costumes and attributes also bring the artists back to life. Together with letters, personal documents, newspaper clippings and program brochures, they give us an insight into the ins and outs of artist life. This dataset contains all objects (title and link to the IIIF manifesto) from the LDES of the House of Alijn with the associated subject 'New Circus (Ghent)'. This collection can also be consulted via huisvanalijn.be/collection and data.collection.gent.
