Statistical sectors of Belgium, most recently

Helpdesk Digitaal Vlaanderen

The term 'statistical sector' was introduced in 1970 by the National Institute of Statistics (NIS). Previously, the municipality was the smallest administrative entity for which socio-economic data were available. The statistical sectors classify the territory of Belgium on the basis of morphological and/or socio-economic characteristics. The delimitation of statistical sectors usually coincides with elements recognisable in the field or administrative/administrative divisions. Many detailed inventories are generalized to information at the level of the statistical sector. This data product contains the vectorial data of the most recent version of the Statistical sectors, generalized version, of the General Directorate of Statistics - Statistiscs Belgium.
