The Department of Work and Social Economy is responsible for policy coordination and development and for the follow-up, monitoring and enforcement (inspection) of Flemish employment policy. In addition, it also supports and strengthens employment in the regular sector, the non-profit sector and the social economy in Flanders. Through various employment programmes, accreditations and grants, it contributes to the promotion of employment. WSE is the Flemish source of data on career breaks. Finally, it manages the European Social Fund (ESF) in Flanders.
