Floor area per ha - Flanders - condition 2016

Vlaams Planbureau voor Omgeving

This map indicator gives an estimate of the floor area (in m2) of the buildings per hectare. The building height is taken into account and the assumption is made that per 3m building height one floor occurs. The 3D GRB model of available Large-Scale Reference File (GRB) with height data, is used as basic data (version 2.0, creation 1.10.2015) for calculating the floor area of the buildings in Flanders. The building layer is cut with the hectare grid. For each zone of 100x100m, the total floor area is calculated by charging the number of floors per building. It is assumed that there is one floor per 3m building height. This indicator is only compiled for the situation in 2016 due to the lack of the necessary data sources (on building height) for the other years (2013, 2019). For more details about the creation of this product and the corresponding figures, please refer to the technical report 'Indicators Spatial Efficiency, condition and evolution 2013-2019 - technical data sheets' that can be found under https://archief-algemeen.omgeving.vlaanderen.be/xmlui/handle/acd/762878
