PFAS in waterbed (μg/kg ds) - Measurements

Openbare Vlaamse Afvalstoffenmaatschappij (OVAM)

The waterbed quality data (only PFAS) for all measuring points in Flanders collected by VMM (including data from other watercourse managers contained in VMM's waterbed database) and OVAM. In order to facilitate the identification of problem parameters, there is also per pollutant: - a test against trigger values reported where an exceedance indicates contamination, - a test against the soil remediation standards to estimate the potential reuse of BRS as soil - a test against the Vlarebo Annex VI standards to estimate the potential for architectural use of BRS. Please note: The results included in this map layer are a snapshot. In a number of cases, the water floor may have been sampled for carrying out the depopulation works. In this case, the results are no longer representative of the current state of the waterbed. After all, the sampled sediments have been cleared from the watercourse. The research prioritisation of waterbeds supports the identification of waterbeds to be researched as a matter of priority. Testing against trigger values, soil remediation standards and vlarebo Annex V & VI provide an initial insight into which pollutants may be problem parameters for the clearance and processing of the waterbeds. Statements are based only on historical and recent waterbed quality data available by segment. Only analysed pollutants are taken into account. Not all measurement results are available digitally and can be consulted in the Water Soil Explorer. This is particularly true for pollutants which were analysed infrequently at the time of sampling. For these ‘new emerging substances/emerging contaminants’, it is important to consult the data included in the reports themselves. The absence of certain measurement results in the Water Soil Explorer should therefore not lead to the conclusion that no contamination is present. Additional waterbed research is always necessary to form a correct picture of the current waterbed quality per watercourse segment.
