Flemish kotlabel via POI-service

Before the introduction of the Flemish kotlabel, each municipality itself determined the conditions of its own label. With the introduction of the Flemish kotlabel from 01 January 2025, having your own label is no longer possible. Each municipality determines itself whether they apply the Flemish kotlabel and records this in a regulation. The award of the Flemish kotlabel is based on the following criteria: home quality, fire safety and proper division according to the environmental permit. If the municipality has a Chamber Rules, this is considered an additional criterion included within home quality. In order to issue a Flemish housing label, a non-expired supporting document with the status ‘Gunstig’ must be present for each of these criteria. The municipality may also issue an additional label ‘Municipal criteria for student housing’. This is not mandatory. The municipality itself determines which additional criteria are to be assessed. The additional criteria do not stand in the way of awarding the Flemish housing label, but can be checked and enforced by the Regulation. Municipalities that have already awarded a housing label can switch to this Flemish housing label. This is not an obligation, but a choice of each municipality. In any case, municipalities will no longer be able to issue their own municipal housing label from 2025 onwards. Municipalities that do not yet issue a housing label can decide to issue the Flemish housing label from 2025. This is not an obligation, but a choice of each municipality. From 1 January 2025, the following municipalities will introduce the Flemish kotlabel: Leuven.
