Forest reference layer 2000

The 2000 Forest Map is an updated version of the 1990 Forest Map. It is the geometric reference layer at the Agency for Nature and Forests within which other thematic layers related to forests are integrated.The implemented update consisted of:1. the inclusion of new forests or the removal of disappeared forests,2. the classification of the forests according to the new forest classification,3. the correction of the geometry where necessary.The update was carried out by the Support Centre GIS-Vlaanderen together with the Agency for Nature and Forests. The descriptive information from the 1990 forest map (tree species, development phase, closure rate and type of holding) has been retained.The forest map cannot be considered as a legal document to justify or not the application of the Forest Decree.
