Register of Addresses (CRAB)

Helpdesk Digitaal Vlaanderen

In the address register (CRAB) all addresses in Flanders are stored together with their point geometries. Address means: identification of an addressable object with address components such as a municipality name, a street name, a house number and a bus number. An address can be linked to a building or to a plot. The point geometry may refer to the centroid of the cadastral plot or building on which an address is located, as well as to the entrance of the building linked to an address. The street names in the address register are given a unique code, the street name objectId. The address details are managed by the municipalities as defined in the CRAB Decree. Digitaal Vlaanderen is responsible for coordinating the creation and maintenance, management and communication of the address register (CRAB) as stated in the CRAB Decree. In this context, charging is done at regular intervals from the CADMAP.
