Number of dwellings rented through a social real estate agency (AIS)

Social real estate agencies (AIS) are one of the major private operators in the ‘social assimilated’ housing sector in Wallonia. The indicator gives the number of ‘social assimilated’ housing units rented by an AIS on the territory of the entity. Data available only if AIS is active. In order to interpret this indicator correctly, it is necessary to know: 1° That this number reflects only part of the supply of ‘socially assimilated’ housing in Wallonia. Other public and private operators also rent housing for similar groups. Only dwellings rented through an AIS are counted here. 2° That most municipalities are members of an AIS. However, there will be no AIS accommodation in a non-member municipality. 3° Some AIS are mono-municipal and others are inter-municipal. In the second case, there is not necessarily accommodation in all ISA member municipalities, but this is potentially possible.
