Agricultural/residential interweaving per ha - Flanders - state 2013

Vlaams Planbureau voor Omgeving

This map of the interweaving between agriculture and housing was drawn up on the basis of the combination of the residential cells from the land use stock with the layer of the agricultural use parcels. The analysis was performed at a 10m resolution. Each hectare cell in which at least 100m2 of agriculture or housing occurs was included in the analysis. This map indicates per hectare cell whether it is a completely monofunctional agricultural cell, or a completely monofunctional residential cell, or whether it is a cell with a degree of interweaving between agriculture and housing. For intertwined cells, a distinction is made between cells that are more than half occupied by agriculture (dominant agriculture), or more than half occupied by housing (dominant living). Farm dwellings are not regarded as residential buildings, but as agricultural buildings. For agriculture, only registered agriculture was included according to declarations to the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, and included in the agricultural parcel database. Other land uses, including nature, water, recreation, infrastructure, etc. are excluded from the analysis.
