In 2022, the certified organic areas have increased by 1.0%. This admittedly positive trend confirms a slowdown in the expansion of organic crops. In fact, growth in 2021 was 3%, and the average growth rate between 2017 and 2021 was 5%. In 2022, however, arable land registered a better growth rate (+2.9%), thanks in particular to the increase in cereal areas (+10.0%). As for areas of permanent grassland, they remained relatively stable. In the breeding industry, the certified organic cattle population has decreased by 4.6% between 2021 and 2022. The pig population rose by 38.1%, driven by farms in the north of the country which saw their number of pigs increase by 58.2%.
