Black carbon concentration

Vlaamse Milieumaatschappij

Black carbon (BC) is a measure of the concentration of soot in the ambient air and is produced by incomplete combustion of fossil fuels, biomass and biofuel. Higher concentrations of black carbon are measured at traffic-heavy and industrial sites. We see a decreasing trend at all measuring points over the years, but especially at the traffic-oriented measuring points.
