acidifying deposition is the supply of nitrogen and sulphur from the atmosphere to soil, water, vegetation, ... acidification affects ecosystems and reduces soil and water quality and biodiversity nitrogen has acidifying as well as fertilizing effects; sulphur acts only acidifying highest acidifying deposition takes place in the center of West Flanders, N-Antwerp and NO-Limburg acidifying deposition decreases by 48 % since 2000.
