Nature goals Sigmaplan

Agentschap voor Natuur en Bos

This map layer gives the nature goals for the nature development areas of the Sigma Plan. The layer is a spatial translation of the nature objectives formulated in 2005 for the Scheldt estuary, its valley and tributaries (Adriaensen et al. 2005, Conservation objectives Scheldt estuary - ECOBE 05-R82, UA - IN - KULeuven) and in 2014 in the S-IHD 36 Zeeschelde (SIGMA). The implementation of the Sigma Plan focuses on these goals and thus contributes to the realization of the mission statement from the Management Plan 36 Zeeschelde (SIGMA) for the SPA-H BE2300006 and SPA-V BE2300222, BE2301235 and BE2301336. The nature goals are partly located outside SPAs. The map layer guides the design and management of the nature development areas of the Sigma Plan. It is a work map that is frequently updated on the basis of new insights and the concrete implementation of the layout plans. The limitation of the targets is based on ecological potentials as calculated in preliminary design studies and visions. For those areas where such data is not yet available, the target is derived from the Most Desirable Alternative of the updated Sigma Plan.
