A regional landscape is a partnership initiated by a province or at the initiative of at least three municipalities. The scope of a regional landscape consists of several municipalities or parts of municipalities. Regional landscapes are active in a region with a high concentration of valuable natural sites or landscape features. What makes regional landscapes so distinctive is the effect on the intersections of nature management, nature development and nature-oriented tourism. A regional landscape works to strengthen the quality of nature in a region and to promote and appeal, among other things by improving the possibilities for cycling and walking in attractive landscapes. The Agency for Nature and Forests has a review, follow-up and monitoring task.
