In Wallonia, the sector plans mainly define, by zones, the uses for which the land must be reserved. The Walloon territory is thus entirely divided into areas of housing, economic activities, public services and community facilities, agricultural areas, forest areas, etc. The activities and settlements that may be authorised in each area are specified in Articles 26 to 39 of the Walloon Code on Spatial Planning, Town Planning, Heritage and Energy (CWATUPE). The share of the entity's area allocated to habitat (habitat and rural habitat) in the area plan was selected as a key indicator.
