Spatial distribution of housing support facilities - Flanders - 2015

Vlaams Planbureau voor Omgeving

This map shows the distribution of housing support facilities in Flanders. These are facilities related to the residential function. Examples are bakeries, butchers, supermarkets, cafés or restaurants, clothing stores, but also services such as post offices, bank offices, town halls, or accessible neighbourhood greenery, liberal professions, ... Data from three main sources are used for the overview and location of the entities that are part of the housing support facilities, namely Enriched Crossroads Bank of Enterprises, Geopunt of AGIV, other sources in administrations. Of course, sufficient attention is paid to the mixed use of the data from the multiple sources in order to avoid double counting as much as possible. The facilities were located in Flanders. For the border areas, there may therefore be a slight deviation in the level of facilities. For the full list of facilities and their sources, and for more details on the methodology used, please refer to the research study: Verachtert, E., I. Mayeres, L. Poelmans, M. Van der Meulen, M. Vanhulsel, G. Engelen (2016), Development opportunities based on node value and proximity facilities. This study was carried out by VITO on behalf of the Department of Space Flanders and published on 29-02-2016. See https://www.ruimtelijkeordening.be/NL/Services/Research/Studies/article…
